The Uri is a utility vehicle that achieved S.A.B.S. Homologation status during 2003. The vehicle is designed and built for economically transporting people and goods over any terrain, thick sand and tarred streets etc. The 4x4 version is currently in production. Built from thick-walled (3-mm) steel tubing and clad with 1.6-mm sheet metal, the unitary-type framework offers great strength and durability, while minimising overall mass to 1690 kg.

Placing heavy driving components towards the back of the Uri achieves an optimal mass distribution which results in less rolling resistance and improved traction, and explains the Uri's excellent performance over rubble and other loose surfaces. The URI’s off-road performance is further enhanced by a long-travel suspension in both front and rear, providing a high ground clearance, agility and driving comfort.

The Uri uses guaranteed components, specifically those of recent pick-up models. These were selected not only for their legendary durability and reliability, but also for the fact that spare parts are easily available throughout the southern African region.
